This Sri Lankan spinel come with a certificate that describes its colour as deep blue.  Well it is but 

it also has a subtlety of colour that almost defies description, it is an elusive blue.

Take a look, turn it around, and you will see.  This gem is crying out to be made into a pendant or ring.
